Weekend Online Maktab

Welcome to Just Arabic Online Maktab, where your child’s journey in faith and learning begins—unlocking a world of inspiration and discovery.

We established our maktab to meet a critical need in our communities. Many Muslim families live far from a local masjid or have demanding schedules, making it difficult to attend a traditional maktab. As a result, many children miss out on essential Islamic education and risk losing connection with their Muslim identity.

We strive to fill this vital gap. While some children have access to Quran lessons, there's a lack of comprehensive Islamic studies taught in a clear and engaging English format. Just Arabic Online Maktab offers a holistic solution.

We offer a supportive online environment where young Muslims can deepen their faith. Our curriculum focuses on Quran recitation with proper Tajweed, memorization, and core Islamic teachings, including prayer, moral character, and stories of the prophets.

Our live, interactive lessons, led by skilled teachers, build both knowledge and a confident Islamic identity. We make learning accessible and meaningful, helping each child form a lasting bond with their faith from the comfort and safety of home.

What is the Online Maktab programme?

Our Online Maktab is a comprehensive, structured Islamic studies programme designed for children. It provides a balanced education in Quranic recitation (Qaidah), memorisation (Hifz), and essential Islamic knowledge, all from the comfort and safety of home. We combine traditional Islamic learning with a modern, interactive online classroom environment to nurture a strong foundation in faith and practice.

Class Timings

How are the classes structured?

Each 90-minute class is carefully planned to maximise learning and engagement:

  • 45 minutes of Quranic Studies: Focused instruction in Qaidah, Nazirah (fluent reading), Juz Amma, or Hifz, with dedicated Tajwid practice.

  • 30 minutes of Islamic Studies: A dynamic curriculum covering Aqidah (beliefs), Fiqh (jurisprudence), Seerah (Prophetic biography), and Akhlaq (character) on a rotational basis.

  • 15 minutes of Practical Learning: A dedicated session for learning daily Duas, Salah practice, and other essential Islamic rituals.

How are students grouped? What is the class size?

Our goal is to place students in classes that match their proficiency level (Qaidah, Nazirah, Juz Amma, or Hifz). While our initial classes may combine levels, our teachers are experts at managing a range of abilities and will provide individualised support.

We are committed to small-class teaching. Each class will have a maximum of approximately 10 students, ensuring every child receives the focused attention they need to progress with confidence.

Will classes be separated by gender and ability?

Our long-term vision is to offer a fully optimised learning environment with separate classes for boys and girls, each further divided into small, level-specific groups (e.g., separate Qaidah classes for each gender).

As this is a new initiative, our initial launch phase may involve mixed-gender and mixed-ability classes to establish the foundation of the programme. Our clear plan is to phase in separated classes as student numbers grow, allowing us to create the ideal, tailored learning experience for every child. All students will still receive dedicated, personalised attention.

How is the Islamic Studies curriculum delivered?

Our Islamic Studies module follows an effective 4-week rotational pattern to reinforce learning:

  • Weeks 1 & 2: Full-Class Teaching. The teacher introduces and explains new topics to the entire group.

  • Week 3: Focused Group Work. Students engage in discussions, activities, and projects tailored to their level, applying what they've learned.

  • Week 4: Individual Assessment & Review. A gentle assessment week to consolidate understanding, allowing the teacher to track each student's progress and provide personalised feedback.
